There is a great site that was made recently which will allow people to publish music articles on any music related subject they want. I plan on writing some articles about recording music in an apartment or dorm room because there arn't any others on there so far. There are many article sites but its nice to see one focusing on music. This should encourage and spread musical theory and information that will benefit a lot of people.
Recording music in a dorm room or apartment is something a few articles about could really help. Many people living in those types of situations are interested in music but do not think that they have the space to record it. Fortunately, music equipment these days makes a lot of things possible that used to be out of the question.
You can now have a professional music studio in a dorm room or apartment, and it can have everything that you need. You will have to make some sacrifices, but this shouldn't affect your overall output once you get used to your setup. The lower costs of modern recording equipment should also make it easier for students living in apartments or dorm rooms to build a nice studio.
Hopefully some other articles on home music recording will find their way onto this site and it will become a great place for music information.

Recording Your Music and Selling it Online
Once you have recorded music in your dorm room studio you need to be able to sell it if you want to profit. Unless you are recording for someone else and they are paying you you will need to sell some of your music to make some cash, and if you want to keep getting your equipment and software, you want to make some money.
To do this you will need to research the different ways to sell music online. There are many paths you can take to get your music online these days, and you may end up using more than a few of them.
One main type of strategy is to put it on a site like itunes or CDBaby. This will cost you some money up front, but it can be worth it because those sites will expose you to large markets. The best way to do it for free would be to set up an ecommerce store on your own site that charges people to download your music. This will let you keep all of the profits but it will be more work and require much more marketing.
Remember that the path of music does not end at the recording studio, and if no one can sell their music, there wont be much in recording it.

Home Audio Recording and Music Articles
If you have a dorm room recording studio there is a new site that I have seen collecting articles about music and audio recording that could be of some interest to people coming through here. Many of the articles have been on guitar equipment but there are also some on soundproofing. One of them on soundproofing for video editors was a very good article that could help some people who are freelance video editors.
Dorm room recording and general home recording studio techniques relate to freelance video editors as well, and I think I might right a post on this next.
Be sure to check that site for the latest music articles from around the net. There is a lot of great information available about music and audio recording at all sorts of different sites besides this one, and sometimes it may be hard to filter through all of the info on the web, but now this site will do it for you. Stay tunes here for all the latest articles on home recording and dorm room studios.
